The presence of coloboma disc congenital defect linked to embryological abnormalities during the development process could pave the way for a wider understanding of the pathogenesis of metaphyseal acroscyphodysplasia by increasingly framing it as a systemic disease. To compare VA outcomes in patients with advanced keratoconus wearing SCL or after ICRS or DALK. In addition, determine the percentage of complimentary treatments after ICRS and DALK, and which of these was fitting a SCL, and final visual acuity (f-VA) results. Retrospective case series analyzed 55 eyes with advanced keratoconus fitted with SCL, or after ICRS or a DALK between 2010 and 2018. The variables analyzed were sex, age, UDVA, CDVA, SEQ, -readings, and f-VA after complimentary treatments. Twenty-eight eyes underwent a DALK, 14 were fitted with a SCL, and other 13 underwent ICRS insertion. Patients after DALK and after ICRS showed statistically significant improvement in UDVA and CDVA after surgery, with no difference between these groups. Patients fitted with SCL showed statistically higher CDVA improvement when compared to ICRS. After DALK and ICRS, respectively, nine eyes (32.14%) and seven eyes (53.85%) were fitted with SCL. Comparison between f-VA with SCL in three groups showed that the ben advanced keratoconus without any surgical treatment. In this report, we firstly presented a patient with mild COVID-19 disease who developed paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) due to CRAO. A 54-year-old male patient who reported a contact with a COVID-19 patient applied to the hospital and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by polimerase chain reaction testing. He had no significant past medical history. Chest computed tomography was not notable. He had a mild COVID-19 course during hospitalization. Two weeks following COVID-19 diagnosis, he reported profund vision loss (counting fingers) in his right eye where central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) was detected on fundoscopic examination. Coagulation profile was within normal limits. Hypercoagulable work up was also not notable. Treatment was given for CRAO. Visual acuity was counting fingers at 30 cm. Five days following treatment. Physicians should be vigilant to seek for retinal evaluation in patients with significant visual loss even after a mild COVID-19 history.This study aims to explore the effect of NDRG2 (N-myc downstream regulated gene 2)-mediated Transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1)/ Sma- and Mad-related protein (Smad) pathway in heart failure (HF) rats. HF rat models were established and treated with AdEGFP (adenovirus encoding enhanced green fluorescent protein) or AdNDRG2 (adenovirus encoding NDRG2). The echocardiography and hemodynamic parameters were detected, and the infarct size was calculated via 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) staining. Masson staining was performed to observe the collagen volume fraction (CVF), quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) to detect the expression of Collagen I (Col-I) and Collagen III (Col-III), and Transferase (TdT)-mediated D-UTP-biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) staining to evaluate the apoptosis. Rats in the Model group presented with the decreases in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular shortening fraction (LVFS), left ventricular systolic pressure (LVSP) and maximal/minimum rate of left ventricular pressure (±dp/dt max), and significant increases in left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) and CVF. At the meantime, the expression of Col-I and Col-III as well as the apoptotic rate of myocardial cells was also elevated with increased infarct size in the Model group. The database of a tertiary medical center was retrospectively reviewed for all patients treated for nasolacrimal duct obstruction in 2012-2017. The study sample was divided into six groups by surgery type and approach adults (>18 years) - external or endoscopic-endonasal sequential unilateral or simultaneous bilateral dacryocystorhinostomy (four subgroups); children (18 years) - endoscopic-endonasal unilateral or simultaneous bilateral dacryocystorhinostomy (two subgroups). Data were collected on patient age and sex, surgery and anesthesia type and duration, and complications. The cohort included 95 adults and 27 children who underwent 111 and 41 surgical procedurelts and children, simultaneous bilateral endoscopic-endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy may yield excellent therapeutic results.
