In this study, the whole mitochondrial genome of the Purple Spot Mantis Shrimp Gonodactylus smithii from the South China Sea was determined using next-generation sequencing. The circular mitogenome of G. smithii is 16,260 bp long and consists of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, and two rRNA genes. The base composition is AT-rich and has an overall AT content of 67.76% (composition of A, G, T, and C was 35.30%, 12.41%, 32.46%, and 19.83%, respectively). Among 13 PCGs, 12 PCGs shared a common ATN as the start codon except COX1 gene using an abnormal putative first codon GCG. 11 PCGs ended with TAA or TAG, while ND6, COX2 gene terminated with a single T and ND3 gene used a special "GAT" as the stop codon. The phylogenetic tree showed that G. smithii was clustered with Gonodactylus chiragra, then together with Gonodactylaceus randalli.Trictenotoma davidi Deyrolle, 1875 is a beetle of the Trictenotomidae family. The length of the complete mitochondria genome of T. davidi was 15,910 bp with 24.1% GC content, including 39.9% A, 15.1% C, 9.0% G, and 36.0% T. The genome encoded 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, and 2 rRNAs. Phylogenetic analysis showed that T. davidi was closely related to Vincenzellus ruficollis. This study provided useful genetic information for the evolution of T. davidi and Trictenotomidae insects.Lithocarpus hancei (Benth.) Rehd is a widely distributed evergreen tree with broad-leaves that dominates the lower stories of the forest in China. Here, we sequenced and assembled the complete chloroplast genome of L. hancei. The genome is 161,304 bp with one large single copy (LSC 90,585 bp), one small single copy (SSC 18,959 bp), and two inverted repeat (IR) regions (IRa and IRb, each 25,880 bp). It contains 117 genes, including 80 protein-coding genes, 33 tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis of 21 representative cp genomes of the Fagaceae suggests Lithocarpus is monophyletic with strong bootstrap support and also that L. hancei is closely related to L. polystachyus. The cp genome is important for constructing a robust phylogeny of Lithocarpus and Fagaceae for future study.Monolepta hieroglyphica (Motschulsky) (Coleoptera Chrysomelidae) is an important agricultural insect pest. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of M. hieroglyphica (GenBank? accession number MW732714) was sequenced using Illumina HiSeq? X Ten. The mitogenome was 16,213 bp long and comprised 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs) and a putative control region (CR). The nucleotide composition of the M. hieroglyphica mitochondrial genome was significantly biased (A, G, C and T accounted for 41.04%, 8.01%, 11.76% and 39.18%, respectively) with 80.23% A + T content. Two rRNAs were located between tRNA-Leu and the CR, separated by tRNA-Val. The CR, located between 12 s rRNA and tRNA-Ile, was 1,661 bp long. The length of the 22 tRNAs ranged from 61 to 71 bp. Phylogenetic analyses of 29 Chrysomelidae-Galerucinae species based on 13 mitochondrial protein-coding genes reconstructed using Bayesian 3.2.0 showed that the M. hieroglyphica mitogenome was clustered with the existing three different species of the Monolepta genus mitogenomes in a monophyletic manner. The M. hieroglyphica mitogenome provides an important data resource for further studies and contributes to our understanding of the phylogeny of this group. The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Hygroryza aristata was sequenced, assembled and published for the first time here. The chloroplast genome was 135,681 bp in length and comprised of a large single-copy (LSC, 81,532 bp) region and a small single-copy (SSC, 12,383 bp) region interspersed by two inverted repeats (IRs, 20,883 bp). Gene annotation resulted in the identification of 113 unique genes including 79 protein-coding genes, 30 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and four ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes. In addition, 118 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) and 47 long repeats were identified. Phylogenetic analysis based on maximum likelihood analysis (ML) resolved the placement of H. aristata sister to a clade of Rhynchoryza subulata and Zizania. The Guizhou odorous frog Odorrana kweichowensis is endemic to Guizhou Province, China. In this study, a comparative analysis of the mitochondrial COI and ND2 gene sequences was performed to examine genetic diversity in 109 individuals from ten localities across the geographic range of the species. Haplotype diversity and nucleotide diversity were 0.576 and 0.00055, respectively. Phylogenetic analyses almost nested all haplotypes into one lineage. AMOVA indicated that total variation was mainly derived from variation within individual populations. Neutral tests indicated that a recent expansion occurred in the total population. Fst estimations indicated that genetic divergence was not correlated with geographic distance. Accordingly, the species probably experienced a recent population expansion, and there no obvious population genetic structure is apparent. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/Vorinostat-saha.html The findings provide useful information for the conservation of this species. The Pegu Rice Frog, Microhyla berdmorei is distributed across ten Asian countries. However, the DNA barcoding information (COI gene) is restricted to only Southeast Asian countries. Here, we sampled a specimen of M. berdmorei in Mizoram state, northeast India to allow the genetic diversity of the species across its range. We generated both COI and 16S ribosomal RNA sequences of the studied species to check the population genetic diversity. The Bayesian analyses clearly discriminate M. berdmorei from its sister species Microhyla pulchra. The present datasets of M. berdmorei also revealed 11 and 19 haplotypes with high uncorrected pairwise genetic distances in COI (3.8-11.8%) and 16S rRNA (0-4.6%) gene, respectively. Owing to the high intra-species genetic distances and different haplotypes with sufficient mutational steps in both mitochondrial genes, this study affirms the existence of M. berdmorei species complex or cryptic diversity within its range distribution in South and Southeast Asia.
