© 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.Severe side effects and poor therapeutic efficacy are the main drawbacks of current anticancer drugs. These problems can be mitigated by targeting, but the targeting efficacy of current drugs is poor and urgently needs improvement. Taking this into consideration, this review first summarizes the current targeting strategies for cancer therapy in terms of cancer tissue and organelles. Then, we analyse the systematic targeting of anticancer drugs and conclude that a typical journey for a targeted drug administered by intravenous injection is a CTIO cascade of at least four steps. Furthermore, to ensure high overall targeting efficacy, the properties of a targeting drug needed in each step are further analysed, and some guidelines for structure optimization to obtain effective targeting drugs are offered. Finally, some viewpoints highlighting the crucial problems and potential challenges of future research on targeted cancer therapy are presented. This review could actively promote the development of precision medicine against cancer. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.BACKGROUND Acquired brain injury (ABI), such as Parkinson's disease, dementia or stroke, can result in communication difficulties that lead to an impoverished ability to connect meaningfully with others. Choral singing is a complex task that uses multiple brain regions which are also responsible for language and communication skills. The potential therapeutic effects of group singing on communication-related outcomes across ABI aetiologies have not been systematically reviewed. AIMS To examine whether participation in group singing over multiple sessions improves speech, voice, language and/or communication skills in individuals with ABI-related communication disorders. METHODS & PROCEDURES A database search was undertaken according to the PRISMA guidelines. Search terms included stroke OR Parkinson* OR dementia OR 'acquired brain injury' AND choir OR choral OR singing OR sing OR 'choral sing* ' OR group adj3 singing OR community adj3 singing AND speech OR language OR communication. MAIN CONTRIBUTION A total on's disease (i.e., nine of the 11 studies). What are the potential or actual clinical implications of this work? This review concludes that, currently, there is emerging evidence to support positive effects of a group singing for speech and voice symptoms in individuals with Parkinson's disease, when provided using the Tamplin protocol. However, there is not yet any evidence for communication benefits for individuals with aphasia or dementia. © 2020 Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.A child's appropriate development stems in large part from proper nutrition. Malnutrition is an adverse prognostic factor in children with cancer, and its prevalence is highly variable. Currently, there is no standardized definition and assessment method of nutritional status in pediatric oncology. A complete nutritional assessment includes anthropometry, biochemical, clinical, and dietary assessments. In this article, we explore these methods and suggest practical approaches for pediatric cancer units depending on the levels of care that these can provide. We also advise on the monitoring and follow-up of children with cancer during and after treatment, and discuss potential areas for future research. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Erbium YAG (ErYAG) laser with RecoSMA technology. This laser emits thousands of microbeams of energy causing superficial epidermal ablation and a separation of dermal fibers due to a mechanical-acoustic and resonance effect. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Erbium YAG (ErYAG) laser with RecoSMA in the treatment of stable psoriasis vulgaris lesions. A questionnaire completed by 112 patients enrolled in the study. Photographs taken before each session, the analysis of the dynamics index PASI and histological studies were analyzed to visually monitor the clinical progress. The analyses were carried out with the help of computer software. The results after treatment of average number of sessions per course showed the complete clinical remission of the skin lesions in over 87% of the patients treated. The ErYAG laser and RecoSMA have demonstrated the high effectiveness of the laser method of treating skin manifestations of the disease and improving the quality of life of patients. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Due to the complexity involved in the healing process of full-thickness burns, the literature looks for alternatives to optimize tissue reconstruction. The objective of this study was to explore the action of PBM associated with MSCs in the healing process of third degree burns. A total of 96 male Wistar rats were used, distributed in four groups with 24 animals each Control Group (CG); Laser Group (LG); Cell Therapy Group (CTG); Laser Group and Cell Therapy (LCTG). The burn was performed with aluminum plate (150°C). We performed analysis of wound contraction, histology, immunohistochemistry, birefringence analysis and immunoenzymatic assay to evaluate tissue quality. Our results demonstrate that the association of the techniques is able to accelerate the repair process, modulating the inflammatory process, presenting a cutaneous tissue with better quality. Thus, we conclude that the use of PBM associated with cell therapy is a promising treatment in the repair of total thickness burns. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.Z-nucleic acid binding protein (ZBP)1 (also known as DAI and DLM1) is a pathogen sensor activated by double-strand character RNA to recruit receptor-interacting protein (RIP) kinase via a RIP homotypic interaction motif. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/gsk3787.html The activation of receptor-interacting protein kinase (RIPK)3 and initiation of virus-induced necroptosis were initially reported in a landmark publication Upton et al. (Cell Host Microbe 11 290, 2012) employing the DNA virus murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV). M45-encoded viral inhibitor of RIP activation prevents virus-induced necroptosis. Additional virus-encoded suppressors of necroptosis were then identified, including herpes simplex virus ICP6 and vaccinia virus E3L. Caspase-8 suppressors encoded by these DNA viruses block apoptosis, unleashing necroptosis mediated through Z-nucleic acid binding protein 1 (ZBP1) recruitment of RIPK3. These studies all utilized ZBP1-deficient mice generated by the Akira Lab (Zbp1-/- AK ) to bring the significance of virus-induced necroptosis to light. C57BL/6 mice were chosen as controls based on the assumption that mutant mice were congenic; however, these mice were recently found to display an unexpected innate immune deficit, lacking C57BL/6-specific NK1.
